Wintertime Surprise Proposal & Adventure Engagement Session in Connemara National Park
Winter in Connemara is every bit as magical as the warmer months — with golden light at sunset, moody raindrops, and a quiet, intimate atmosphere, it’s the perfect time for a truly special adventure couple session or proposal photoshoot.
Ervine and Michela traveled all the way from Malta to Ireland for the first time at the beginning of January. He told Michela they would be having a photo session to celebrate her birthday and she had no idea that he had also planned to propose. Ervine’s vision was to capture not only the intimate moment of the proposal but also the enchanting atmosphere of Ireland’s mountains, lakes, and historic sites. He imagined photos that reflected the warmth, romance, and magic of the day, with a touch of elegance and old-money charm.
I met Ervine and Michela at the visitor centre of Kylemore Abbey, where we began their session exploring the path along Pollacapall Lough. Surrounded by ancient trees and majestic mountains, the light was soft, and a gentle winter rain added a touch of moody drama to the scene. As the weather shifted, we moved into the 19th-century setting of Kylemore Abbey itself, capturing timeless and elegant images of the couple against the historic architecture. Following by the woodland paths of the Victorian Walled Gardens, a perfect blend of intimacy and natural beauty.
For the proposal, Ervine had envisioned a truly private and intimate moment. As the sun began to set over Lough Inagh Valley, we reached a secluded spot, where he proposed. Surrounded by the golden winter light, serene waters, and rugged mountains, the moment was perfectly framed by Connemara’s wild beauty.
